Contest winners….and Maverick Business Insider “Take Two”
Well today was *supposed* to be unvieling of the ‘Maverick Business Insider‘ newsletter and intro package. I guess someone forgot to clear it with the Internets. I’m not a techie but it had to do with our database and integration with fulfillment and operations. So instead of getting a whole bunch of annoyed customers in and not being able to fulfill in a timely manner – we pulled the site & put it on ‘hold’.
I figured we’d have it up earlier – but we made a decision to wait until tomorrow to open it back up.
I put up a video on the main site explaining it a bit more and giving some good news. Hopefully a silver lining in this for you. (Hint: It has to do with the ‘First-Mover’ Bonuses!)
* Contest Winners *
From our video comments contest – you guys made it really hard to pick the best ones. Some incredible, insightful comments. So I bumped it up to 8 winners instead of 5…
Drum roll…please….
Here’s who will be getting their own copy of the new Maverick Business Insider package with everyone else who grabs it (when we get the doors open). It looks like this -
Here are the lucky 8. Congratulations To:

Hi Yanik.
Good to know that you had taken pre-emptive action with your site.
I hope that you won’t experience the same fiasco that Stompernet did with their fulfillment house (I have yet to receive the materials they promised 62 days ago and I don’t think I will deal with them again though they may have killer content).
I hope I can stay awake long enough to get to it before everything runs out.
Philip.

That’s me!
:):)
Today opens up a huge new door for me because I used
what you spoke about in your video, Yanik, of visualizing,
writing it down, and having FUN.
I gave away my last $10 a couple weeks ago to a cause
who needed it more than I. Some may call me crazy
(and it felt that way since it was literally the last $10) yet I now see
that unconventional actions are needed to blow away
assumed constraints to leap into BE-ing a true Maverick.
Be well Yanik.
Rob is spot on, this is simply amazing.

Woohoo!
Thanks so much Yanik, I was so surprised when I got the email. And thank God I checked my spam box because it was in there! haha
Can’t wait to check the package out. I have the same philosophy as you, I just never went into such depth about it, but I love it

Muchas gracias Yanik!
You could have knocked me over with a feather! Especially since I’m known far and wide as the person who never wins anything…

And on the outside chance that anyone wants to read more about my biz/life journey:

p.s. Don’t know/think this is even possible with blog comments, but it would have been nice to hyperlink each contest winner’s name with their winning comment – takes a LONG time to search through 200 comments to find someone!
thanks again and I’m REALLY looking forward to it,
Jini

What a frickin great idea Jini! Ok, everyone, here is a quick lesson how us entrepreneurs do things. Yanik provided the platform, the format. Jini planted the seed with a great idea. Me, I ran with it and made something of it.
Since I am doing the work I will post mine first. Jini had the idea so she is second. All the others follow in the order listed. I don’t know how much HTML I can use in a comment here, so I’m not doing anything fancy. Here are hyperlinks to the winning comments and if available hyperlinks to the winner’s website.

Yanik and staff,
You can safely approve my previous comment. It contains a whole bunch of hyperlinks. They are all good. Most of them are to the comments on this site and the winners websites.
Thanks, Rob

Dear Yanik
I am SO VERY DISAPPOINTED with you!
After all the bulletproofing for your site and us waiting – you have left out a large chunk of countries out of your “INTERNATIONAL” list.
I consider this a fundamental flaw in your business process.
So much for all the hype and looking forward to what you have to share.
November 9th, 2008 at 1:39 am
Firstly, I would like to apologise formally for the outburst in my last comment.
A ticket submitted to your support team had the issue resolved within, I guess, 4 hours. My previous experiences had not been anywhere close to your support team’s response time. I commend your support/technical team on this.
So, thank you very much Yanik. I look forward again to see what you have to share.

This is unbelievable!
Thanks a lot Yanik!
I wish you could see me jumping in my room at 7:15 in the morning when I’ve realized that I’ve won. I am turning 18 on the 1st of December and I couldn’t expect anything better than this! This is amazing!
I can’t wait until I will qualify to participate in Maverick Business Adventures, shake your hand and say thank you in real life

Hi Yanik and team,
Aaaaggh, sigh, the life of abundance we all aspire to. But what is most impressive is that you, and others like you, have the compassion, wisdom, empathy, humaneness and acumen that traditionally has not been associated with having it so good. I love the fact that your family features in this with you. Times they are achanging, and how good that is.
Suggestion: we here in Africa have been mostly ignored and unexplored on the Net because we were offline and unavailable. But we are getting our second undersea cable now (at last) and another one soon. This means that the markets here are now opening up and are imminently available. How about if some of you gave some thought to taking some of us, turn us into true entrepreneurs, with the provisio that those you mentor, turn around and do the same for ten others, and also give to charity the 5% of their profits? This will result in a chain which is sustainable, topical and will provide an out for thousands who have no chance of finding a traditional job in this depressed market. Hundreds of thousands are on the poverty line, and could potentially benefit from such a mentorship program. And the great thing would be that it could be for younger as well as older people. Africa does not sponsor education or support pensioners such is done in many other parts of the world. Most older people cannot afford to retire or to even become sick.
To ensure accountability they could blog their progress and journey or write an e-book about it so that this can also benefit many others. The Internet content could also be made mobile accessable as many in rural areas have a cellphone but not a computer. We need to learn to fish, not be handed the fish on a platter as has been happening so often, as most of us cannot use the fish when we get it in the first place. E.g. they are handing out laptops in one of our slums here, but most of the inhabitants have never seen a computer, had any lessons or have even a basic education. Now what use will the laptop be without the knowhow to use it? How will that start putting food on their table or earn an income for the family?
I apologize for the long reply. I am quite passionate about this. Sorry.
Thank you very much for your much needed advice. It is much appreciated.
Ursula
