Thanks again for your great support on the charity webinar Yanik (along with our other friends and Mavericks, too!) - we're now building 4 wells and over 1,000 people get clean water. It's exciting to see the ripple effect events like this have. I totally agree with the blog post! -- Chris :)

Man, I love this concept and know first hand it, I cannot out give the universe.

From the many hours I volunteered, it has paid my life back with more than many can imagine.

I'm going to set up my 5% account as well and continue making a difference.

Giving back is part of that karma thing. For years i did not believe in it. But after trying and giving back, I see it works like a champ!

Fantastic Article,

It reinforces my own beliefs that "what goes around comes around", or "as you sow so shall you reap"

now people use these throw away sayings without actually thinking about their meanings but the fact is, is that you can not out give the universe.

now if you can't give money then you can give your Time to someone in someway or your help to someone however small it may seem

From helping my friend at 2 o'clock in morning fix his car under the streetlamps so they can take their family on Holiday, to lending a friend £7,000 for a deposit for a car otherwise they would have lost the deal

Over the many years i have been with my wife she has said to me on many occasion "well what did you get out of it " and i always say "well nothing" but they needed help i guess its just my nature.

but all it cost was a bit of time and a bit of lost interest on the money but i am convinced that i have been rewarded from the universe 10 fold for these simple random acts

"Have the best day you can have........its your choice"

"In order to keep it, you've got to give it away" is one of my favorite phrases of all time. Great post. I'm going to tweet about it.

Yanik, I will always remember in 2005 when I was new at IM, you said yes to a request I made, to provide your perspective by phone on a topic for a product I wanted to do. My product idea was not good (It was called "Internet Marketing Horror Stories" - I thought people would want to buy the "what not to do" idea. Now I can see (as you did then) that this might make a nice article but certainly not a product!

But what I learned from you through many of your products and the Underground Seminar was a LOT. Most of all, I have found it to be true that you always reach your stated goal of providing at least 10 times the value on all your products. It's a lot more than 10. I'd say it's more like 100. (What a person learns will make them 100 times what they spent on the product.)

You do a lot of giving and I really appreciate what you did for me, a newbie stranger with a bad product idea, way back when!

I always tell people if you cant give $ give your "time", and serve your community... God makes no distinctions between your time/talents/$ in terms of giving.. they are the same... Keep pressing the IM envelope and let you light shine on! Best, Brian-

Ahoy again Yanik,

I love and live this comment: "One of our Maverick members has a saying that I love, and that’s, “You can give time, talent or treasure.” So perhaps if you’re short on finances give some of your time or talent away."

Call it Karma or what ever... Briefly, we have a personal story of getting lots of help when we first moved aboard our sailboat. When I tried to pay people for their help and/or felt guilty not being able to return the helpful favor, I would often here this remark, "Don't worry about it, what goes around comes around." At that time I didn't understand.

Then one day a young couple struggled in to the marina on there disabled sailboat. They were frustrated, unable to repair their sailboat, talking of giving up their dream, and selling the boat. I offered to take a look at their boat problem. While fixing their boat (I knew what was wrong and how to fix it) I told them of all the troubles we went through when we started living aboard. Heck, we even survived Hurricane Katrina. I talked about life being a journey, not a destination.

Later that day they stopped by and thanked me for my help, asked what they could do for me because they didn't have any money to spare. At that moment a lightbulb went off and I suddenly understood something wonderful. I said, "Don't worry about it, what goes around comes around."

The point, give what you can every opportunity you have, whether it is Time, Talent, or Treasure....

Yanik,

Fantastic post. I love the idea around intentional percentage giving. That's something you can do with $1k/month or $1M/month. Awesome.
