2 Drink Minimum to Watch this Video…
I performed my first Stand-up set at the DC Improv last Tuesday.
It’s always good to have a fall-back career in case the Internet
thing doesn’t really work out!
Here I am in front of the famous brick wall and IMPROV sign.
I figured I’d throw up part of the video from last night’s show
for you guys!
The video is a little choppy at the beginning because Missy was
literally running from the bathroom to catch my spot. So you don’t
hear my opening line – which is..
“I own my own Internet business and work by myself in the basement…”
Anyway, one other funny thing is one audience member came up to
me afterwards and said, “Are you ‘THE’ Yanik Silver?”
I told her there probably weren’t too many of us.
She came to see one of the other comics but explained she had
my CD in her car because she was a Dan Kennedy
newsletter member. She couldn’t believe it was me when the MC
said my name. She had been listening to me the whole way
down to the show. Funny!
Side note: Do me a favor and vote for my Stand Up teacher, Matt Kazam
He’s in the finals for FameCast Comedy competition this Saturday in Austin, TX. If you are around Saturday night at 9pm EST you can logon and watch him perform live. Go onto www.famecast.com and find him on the comedy stage 6. If you miss it no worries the show will be up on the site until April 21st.
He’s pretty funny and he’s got a great bit about kids in car seats – which Missy and I loved!

LOL….dude!
You continue to amaze me! That was truly a funny routine! The delivery was smooth and effortless. Should the Internet marketing gig go south, I definitely think you have a fall career. So when will the movie, Yanik, King of Washington DC be released?…lol
Great job!

Yo man.. I told you a few times that you were on the MAJOR key factors in allowing me to work from home and have my own internet business, but you’re actually a funny ass dude…
You’re actually funnier and more stage-polished than some ‘real’ comedians…
Keep up the good work…

Too funny!
I would definitely pay some of my hard earned e–commerce funds to go see you perform live in your stand up comedy routine.
In Canada we have the Yuk Yuk’s Comedy clubs where you could become a stand out star on any given day.
thanks for the intro to your funny side.

Yanik,
It was really funny, you have the timing and personal humor
to carry it off well.
I agree that you may have a “back-up” career here.
Go for it.

Yanik you nailed it.
I was expecting to laugh because of the flop on stage, but instead I laughed my but off (it makes it hard to sit down now..thanx).
I loved it, I hope you can share more of your alter ego with us. Do you have more of these videos? If so, please share.
Thank you again for the laugh.

you Rock!
Hey you can release the entire routine as a bonus!

BTW your Underground Newsletter has completely
changed my whole approach to the internet.
The CDs with interviews are real eye openers!
The interview with the Fx guy will easily add
another 100K to my revenue in the next 12 months.
April 15th, 2007 at 10:14 am
Dude… I thought it was joke when I read the headline!!! (Get it Joke?)
Actually, I’m very impressed. I couldn’t imagine getting up and doing comedy in front of a bunch of strangers.
You da man!
Armand
P.S – So what did you sell from the stage?
April 15th, 2007 at 10:15 am
lol. pretty good. not sure too many people can relate to the life of online marketering humor but it was funny to me anyways.
April 15th, 2007 at 10:30 am
Yanik,
I thought that was great! Keep up the RED Underground Secret Society Dossiers, too!
Awesome in both arenas!

I like it, I like it! Great delivery and timing and very funny. But, I hope you don’t leave the world of Internet Marketing – that would be a huge loss.
April 15th, 2007 at 11:29 am
Haha…I didn’t think it was gonna be for real. Man, you have too many talents! BTW, I love your “to-do” list of adventures… most of them are on my list too. Hit me up if you need somebody to do the heli-skiing with… I’m all in! Doing Argentina for skiing this summer and running of the bulls in spain this summer too!
Keep up the great work with the newsletters. Always enjoy them.

Actually, your brief act was rather funny! I enjoyed it! Guess internet marketing can be funny once you get the hang of it. Don’t quit your dayjob, but do continue to put out some of this funny stuff occasionally. You could even add it to this blog so the rest of us can lighten up.

Yanik.
LOL. Russian version of Larry the Cable Guy.
Looks like you were having fun.

Hi Yanik,
Great performance! I’m amazed!
I’m a real fan of the theatre and cinema. And I really enjoyed
the video!
I remember a friend of mine – a famous comedian who has
always invited me to his show. I’d never missed one.
If you plan to leave the Internet Marketing world someday….
just keep me posted….. maybe we could be partners in a brand new comedy!
To Your Success!

Yanik,
Drink or no drink this was fun and funny!
You are good at it, but then I knew you would be, – you do get through to people (with ‘words’) – and that is why you are so very successful on the net.
Anyway, you seem to enjoy it, we have enjoyed it, so do more of it!

I’ve always been a fan of yours Yanik, and now I guess I can look forward to seeing you do a comedy tour?
I’d come to see you!

Yanik,
I’ve done some improv and stand up myself and you killed it for your first time man. Good material and stage presence up there. I have the same question as Armand, what did you sell from the stage after you finished your set?
You’re pretty funny, but as they say, looks aren’t everything.
Seriously, good job dude!

April 15th, 2007 at 2:24 pm
Classic! People really pay you for that crap! I don’t want to picture you in your Superman underoos.
April 15th, 2007 at 3:09 pm
Mr Yanik Silver – you are a man of many talents – well done!
Really, very very funny, even to a Brit like me – looking forward to seeing and hearing more of this at future workshops. Afterall, I’m sure you will not be giving up the day job anytime soon
I’m sure your father is very proud – Son, done Good!
April 15th, 2007 at 5:03 pm
You’re awesome and that was hilarious! Please, please don’t quit your day job (because the rest of us need you).
April 15th, 2007 at 5:32 pm
Funny!
Even more funnier is that the lady asked if you were “THE” Yanik Silver!
But, since I doubt your internet marketing career will ever go south, I don’t think you’ll have to worry about making a living at comedy.
Do it again – and let us enjoy the clips.

WOW Yanik!! Great job. I had heard years ago through a mutual friend (John Harricharan) that you had an incredible marketing talent, but he didn’t mention that you were MULTI talented!
Truly a great performance.

Mr. Silver,
It is the other Mr. Silver– You have some great energy. Met you last year at the Big Seminar and your humor was well received then, and this one is terrific. You are much more famous than I, but many of your ideas have helped my website tremendously.
Thanks

Yanik,
You’re a chameleon in every sense, you have managed to evolve and survive in the 21st Century. In short, you have arrived and I salute you!
As a fresh immigrant myself, I am honored to have come across your sites and information when I did…you have been the beacon of hope during the long cold and uncertain nights.
Thank you for having made my “American Dream” an experience worth re-living, over and over again.
Oh, loved your joke about your Dad telling his peers what his son does for a living…AWESOME dude.
Stay in the light.
April 15th, 2007 at 7:56 pm
Yanik,
Wow! Is there anything you cannot do?
Wonder if any of the other Internet Marketers are as ‘brave’ as you? I cannot imagine standing before an audience (that’s why I am into Internet Marketing) but I really enjoyed it.

Dear Yanick,
Please stay with the internet marketing, you will be most served by it.

Yanik – LOL – nice job. I know it ain’t easy getting up there to [only] be funny. Big difference between your audience members holding cocktails instead of yellow legal pads.
Nice work buddy!!! You may have a second career.

Wow Yanik, that was great! Who knew you were a marketing genius and funny. Yea, if the marketing goes south, you certainly have a fall back career – not that I think you’ll need it of course. Thanks for the laughs. Normally I’d say keep your day job, but heck, do them both.
April 16th, 2007 at 10:46 pm
Yanik
Nice one! Truly impressed, if anything by your standing up and just facing down the crowd! I’ve done acting, and I’ve found comfort in the fact at least I can hide behind a character. Your seminars must hold no fear for your after this! When are you gigging at the Comedy Store here in London? Are you going to try for the Perrier Comedy Award at Edinburgh? ;o)
April 17th, 2007 at 12:06 am
I love it mate…
Pete
p.s. Are those jokes from the public domain?
April 18th, 2007 at 7:20 am
Wow! That was hilarious Yanik. Office slut and those random drug tests. Too funny. I loved the ‘holy trinity’ and “people actually pay for that bullsh%t! Really hilarious. As said before, very smooth, good stuff and no fumbling.
Keep it up. I’m looking forward to your coach’s baby seat stuff.
ps: you’ve got me thinking I should reconsider improv training to help me break out of this shell.
Thanks,
Chris

“They laughed when Yanik stepped up onstage…” and then they saw that this was a good thing!
Hey Yanik, it’s great to see you prove that even Internet marketers can take “a fun approach to serious business” (that’s our motto at Idea Cafe). Thank God you’re here!
Bravo!
Cheers,
