Special Scholarship Opportunity for Young Entrepreneurs
I’m really excited about this…
For the first time ever I’m introducing a scholarship opportunity for young entrepreneurs to attend Underground Online Seminar® 5.
You see, one of my real passions is helping young people and “turning” on the lights for them to see a different direction in their life.
A few years ago this “kid”, Nathan Morris, from North Carolina emails my office about his situation. He told me he’d read one of our introductory programs and was starting to make about $1000/month online from his college dorm room. He wanted to know if I would meet him for coffee.
Typically I don’t do that without charging a very significant consulting fee but this time I made an exception. Nathan drove up 12 hours for that cup of coffee but he walked away with a game plan to earn 6-figures from his tiny list of 2000-some people. Wait until you hear the niche he sells to — it’s so crazy and it could only work online. Nathan sells to enthusiasts who want to take the engine out a Honda Accord and move it to their Honda Civic to make it go faster! The best part about Nathan’s story is his Mom accusing him of dealing drugs because he started making so much money selling information products after our meeting.
*
Here’s part of what he told me later on:
“I met up with Yanik in Bethesda at a Starbucks after driving 12 hours to meet up with him to turn right back around and drive 12 hours back. Anyhow, during that hour or two that I spent with Yanik at the coffee shop… he opened my eyes to so many new product ideas and marketing strategies that I honestly—almost two years later STILL haven’t been able to fully take advantage of! I am now making a full time income…and I literally have dumbfounded all of my college buddies since I only work for about 1 hour a day at night before bed. Even more incredible… in my main business, I have taken my income and successfully doubled it each year—and I’m on track to 10x it this year… putting me at over $100,000 a year from a VERY small niche, with a list of only just over 2000 people.” (Note: this was several years ago and Nathan is on to bigger and better things online.)
*
Anyway this was several years ago and unfortunately I really didn’t do very much hands-on help or teaching for young entrepreneurs since then. I’ve always been interested in it but I just didn’t make it priority…until now.
Part of the unique aspect of my new Maverick Business Adventures® group is ‘giving forward’ via education to teach young and aspiring entrepreneurs in communities we take part in adventures. (Actually next week in Baja we’ll be working with a group of Business students from a local University in Ensenada, Baja Mexico.)
So I got to thinking…why not do this with the Underground® too?
The kind of turbo boost a young entrepreneur could get here would be incredible since it has quickly become THE networking and learning event in the online community. (That’s not what I say but tons of others high-profile attendees who never miss it.) I’m hopeful this kind of exposure would help one of our young entrepreneur winners become the next Google, Facebook or Twitter. Who knows? You never know what can happen and this is the best time in history to do it. It’s truly the golden age for creating online businesses from a bedroom, dorm room or living room and I hope this is the spark they look back on as a pivotal point.
These 10 super star young entrepreneurs selected will win the ultimate VIP experience at Underground® 5. Here’s what they get:
• Free admission to the Underground Online Seminar® 5 to be held at a top-secret location in Washington, DC on February 20-22, 2009. ($2,995 value)
• Face-to-face networking opportunities at the event with 300+ leading entrepreneurs and top Internet business owners including Ryan Allis, who has built multiple million dollar companies from scratch (one while in his teens), Bob Parsons, CEO of GoDaddy.com; and Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos.com, the #1 online footwear retailer that broke $1 billion dollars in sales in 2008 & many more!

If you are aged 13-21 and have the entrepreneurial spirit – I welcome your submission. Or if you know someone who should apply, please forward them this link. Thanks very much! – Y.S.

Yanik! Dude!
I’m 22! Please please please tell me I can still do this thing. I’ve been following your work and have implemented MANY of the ideas that you’ve been teaching.
And I HAVE gotten results… I’ve built lists and have made sales. Unfortunately… no profit. But still… I’m working on that every day.
I honestly hope that you get this and let me still apply.
Much love,
Arman V.
* Arman – sorry 13-21 only. But keep working – implementing what you learn will get you there. – Y.S.*
Awesome idea! It’s so nice to see that someone is actually “giving back” and enjoying it! Thank you, Yanik!
You are an inspiration Yanik. It’s great to see someone give back and take an interest in helping others succeed. Especially those who might not have the opportunity otherwise. Thank you for leading by example!!
awesome!
I think Yanik just moved to the top of the “coolest internet marketers list”
Thanks yanik!

What a wonderful idea that will help some young person on the way to his/her intended destination. Hope you have lots of fun choosing the lucky individual and it benefits everyone!
Yanik!
I wish you had held this the first year you did the Underground — I’m 23 now so I’m past the cutoff age — but man what an opportunity for the right kid!
I would of KILLED for this at that age — literally straight up “murdered” for the opportunity!
Hope someone takes advantage of it
Caleb
D@M Yanik you are a very generous man. Your generosity inspires me even more to become successful just so I can help others succeed. Why couldn’t you have created this scholarship last month when I still qualified? I hope every young entrepreneur out there takes advantage of this multimillion $$$ opportunity & if not, allow me to pretend to be you for a couple of days.
P.S. Do you plan on having a scholarship for young entrepreneurs ages 22-22?
-Michael Quinnell
** Sorry Michael – we did it too late.

Yanik–
I would love to get involved in your youth efforts/program and would like to offer my time and knowledge to help with the youth activities in February. I’ll even be willing to fly from Hawaii to DC to help out!
I’m part of your Maverick Business Insider (via Carrie Wilkerson) and when I saw your youth goal I knew then why I had stumbled upon you and your success. I just didn’t know how I could help. I just got finished listening for the second time to your interview with Mike Dillard and enjoyed every minute of it. Then I found your blog and this entry tonight. Ummm, I guess you’re my Lance Armstrong!
I have found we don’t teach our youth a lot about “business” and the important techniques and skills applicable to the realities of life; salesmanship, communications, planning, teamwork, creation thinking and doing, etc. Before I started the International MasterMind Action Group, I had been trying to break into the schools with a leadership program for youth I had developed. It teaches them about business, community and citizenship, using business logistics basics (thought to product/service delivery), connection and communication. The objective of the program is to connect and give value to their thoughts and dreams and showing how they can turn them into reality (different forms of income streams). We go thru a series of hands-on exercises and provide them with knowledge and the skills they would need to use to create their own opportunities (business or employment).
Can’t wait to brainstorm with you on how I can help. Talk to you soon.
Sheila B
Awesome idea Yanik, I’m signing up now.
Hopefully I’ll see you in Washington soon!
Explosively excited,
Alex Gilberg
Hi, Yanik,
I recently purchased “Moonlighting on the Internet.” I picked it up this evening and began reading it. I couldn’t put it down! That is how I ended up here so late tonight.
Anyway, I want to start my own internet business. I see here that even a 22-year-old is worrying about whether he is too old to be a candidate for your scholarship. Well, I’m 55, and I feel so green about computers and the internet. Most of what I know so far has been self-taught.
I guess I just wanted to point out that some of us older folks would benefit from some type of charitable scholarship program. I’ve been forced to remake my career so that I can work at home, at least on a part-time basis, due to a physical disability. I know many others, however, who are healthy older adults who would enjoy an opportunity to re-think their career paths. With the harsh economic times, and people nearing retirement age being laid off work, I imagine there are many people of ALL ages who would benefit from a program such as this.
I didn’t write so that anyone would feel sorry for me. And I’m certainly not angry, because I think the scholarship idea is a great one. I wish, however, that someone would think about the fact that people of ALL ages are being forced to look for new work and likely wish they could get out from under employment situation where they “work for the man,” to coin a phrase from MY generation.
Good luck, Yanik. I am going to see what resources you have available here that I can use for little or no cost.

* Peggy, we have a lot of people who expressed interest in a ‘older’ scholarship. It might happen. – Y.S. *
Oh, now I see the cut-off is 21. I know there has to be some limits placed. I don’t know why so much of the time the limit is one’s age and not other factors. Just some food for thought for anyone else out there who is thinking about starting a scholarship program such as this one! I congratulate you, Yanik, for caring.
Peggy Dallmann
That’s cool, wish I was young then and taken action. I think things will be different now. Good job for giving chances to these young kids. Bless u.
Yanik,
Just discovered you and your blog/events/everything. Great stuff. I look forward to learning more as I’m sure we have tons of colleagues in common.
All the best,
David
I am very excited for you to choose who will be attending the Underground seminar.
Hopefully it is myself. I have been following you for about a year now. Like most my first encounter with you was from “moonlighting the internet.” I soo realized you were one of the top guys in the online industry.
Being a fitness coach I had already connected with Ryan lee and Zach even-esh. I soon became highly involved in reading your material, joining your newsletter and now all your copywriting and insider products.
I love the things you put out and would love to meet you in person.(I have talked to you once through facebook)
I already submited my application for the scholarship so hopefully I get excepted and can make a huge leap and become even more on the right track to the internet lifestyle.
I know if I dont get excepted to the underground this year I will somehow find a way(like the guy you wrote about in this post) to meet with you and connect.
Also my goal is within 2 years to become part of the maverick business adventures and come hang out with all you crazy guys and gals and be around the best in the world having great times doing crazy stuff.
Thanks Yanik for the opportunity.
And I hope to see you at the underground ; )
(choose me please)
