The Information Marketing “Oil Well” Model…
Over the last 12 months I’ve held two SOLD-OUT $5,000.00 per person & $10,000.00 per person workshops with just me teaching everything I know about information marketing. (Remember, I’ve sold just about everything online from $17 ebooks to $20k ‘MasterMind’ programs!)
One of the concepts I taught that really got lots of attendees excited was my “Oil Well” model for information marketers. If you’re selling any sort of information online than you’ve no doubt seen the typical “funnel” most people teach. You know what I’m talking about – bring people in with a low front-end product and then keep moving them up the funnel to more expensive stuff? Well let me tell you this “Oil Well” model takes that just turns it on its head!
In fact, I created a 21 minute video outlining the whole thing…check it out here and leave your feedback back here on the blog.

Yanik… You go Playa! A great illustration of a timeless success model.
Oilwells, herds, ponds… can’t wait to see what you have coming up next!

I am brand new to all of this internet marketing information. I really appreciate the ease of understanding you incorporate into your presentations.
I also appreciate the fact that you are willing to put a lot of your wisdom out there for people like me who are new and may not, at this time have the wherewithall to invest in expensive products.
Keep up the great work and thanks again.

Once again, another great video Yanik! I’m sure that some people will have an “Ah ha” moment from watching this. You did a great job at tying everything together. Keep up the great work. Love your blog. By the way, I’m looking forward to your new entrepreneur adventure business.

Nice one..Yanik!
But it’s the same…bring people in
with a low front-end product and then keep moving them up
the funnel to more expensive stuff?
your “Oil Well” model doesn’t turn it on its head!
I understand using multiple preselling! with multiple products and also gr8 info on personalisation of the info biz!
But how does this turn the basic model on its head!
I also understand multiple info product biz..but it’s the same thing again!

Yanik,
I’m sure that Your Ideas and Successes are Outstanding.
I would love to HEAR what you have to tell us on Your vocal
email of today. But that is the problem, I only heard bits and
pieces of what You said. Perhaps I heard one third of what
You said. Please SPEAK UP, and send us notice When We
can HEAR YOU. Thank You. Respectfully, David Beakey
P.S. Please do have a GREAT day.

Hello Yanik,
Great info and lots of visuals. Very deep insight. You are good Yanik, I Wish you more success!!!
I was at your underground seminal in 2006 in Washington. Great event with seamless execution!!! I was hoping to win the car. I own some of your other products too.
One quick Question. How do you come up with your ideas?
I am a retail Pharmacist but I detest the daily grind and the manual labour that goes with it. I have been trying to develop an information product for almost a year now but have had great difficulty coming up with ideas for a product that I can market online.
Could you help?
Best Regards
Augustine

Thanks Yankic for a great presentation – you really inspired me.
I was looking for a new business pricing model – something more than the tired, old pyramid. This is it.
As and ex-Oil Patch guy, I found your model even more meaningful…and, with a bit of “refining”, I made it into really powerful model to expand my own business base.
Out there in the “real” business world they have “Thought Leaders” – you are now my Internet Thought Leader.
Keep “pumping” out those Big Ideas.

Well done Yanik. As Vince W expected, someone out here actually did have an “Ah ha” moment…me. I’m in the process of starting a service business (rather than info marketing) and am currently developing a similar type video to put on on the web. Your spot on “personality” struck a chord. I certainly won’t be doing a stuffy, drab, solely business-like spot now after seeing yours. Thanks for the enormous tip there! On another note, you spoke of Eben Pagan, aka David DeAngelo, and how his work fits into your model. Not too long ago I came across Ebens name and actually signed onto his mailing list to experience first hand his marketing techniques. Have to admit, even though I signed for the learning experience, I’m tempted to “buy” every time he sends an email. I can absolutely see how, when done right, this stuff works!!! No question about it! Looking forward to your next installment of “How To Do It Right”.

Yanik – sitting here working on Jim Edwards’ USB for one of my sites and up pops your new video on the Oil Well model in one of my in boxes!
Great work. Having been in international marketing & sales management in my “previous life” I want to compliment you on great work and a great BIG idea in getting this out!
Of all the “gurus” that I’ve listened to and (hopefully) learned from I can certainly say that you and Jim Edwards are at the top of the heap in terms of “teaching” and explaining how things are done and how they get done.
If I might take just a minute to hopefully short circuit some of the “nay-sayers” that are bound to show up here, your idea is, in fact, a fresh approach and fresh look at the old “sales funnel” model. I think we all realize that turning this model on its head is “marketing.” On the other hand, there are many, many people out there who don’t understand collaborative selling; associative selling or any other interconnectivity in marketing in the first place. So…
You explained it in an easy way that should make your target market want more.
I, for one, enjoyed it; thanks for taking the time to put it together.

yanik -dude, being with you reminds me of my times onstage with jimi hendrix ! rock on, my brother !

Valuable information and presented in way that is easy to understand. I am new to Internet marketing and really appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
Thanks
September 5th, 2007 at 4:08 pm
Good presentation Yanik!
Actually, your model does turn the single oil well model, sideways, if not upside down.
Starting out knowing you want a gusher, you research the fields. And, once one good well comes in, you need funding to put more wells in the same and different fields.
It’s a Strategic view, rather than a Tactical viewlike Rich Schefren offers, or the even more simplistic Operational view “cookbooks” on building a website.
All three views/approaches are needed.

Hi Yanik,
I feel I agree with Kiranraj. It feels like it is the same as the funnel model. For an individual hitting your page on the first impression, your suspect needs to be motivated to become a prospect. This is the essential first step. Isn’t it?
Once they’ve accepted your premise and want more details you have essentially turned them into a “semi” customer.
This is a funnel! You entice them with a little bit and then work them up into a bigger thing. One that, hopefully, they are willing to pay for.

sounds goos , i`ve never heard of you or this system , i like to know what it is that a piramid system will profit as fast as you say .i `ll be waiting to hear the next one.

Good video…why don’t you make another video on how folks like me can get the raw info to create products from..would be helpful. Thanks

Yanik,
It’s good to see a new model to aid in understanding and action planning.
September 5th, 2007 at 10:03 pm
I think this video is the way people should look at their Internet Empire. So many are “teaching” the funnel. However this video shows a bigger picture.
This is the vision we should all have… an oil field of money coming in to us.
I’ll be talking about this in my up coming book.
September 5th, 2007 at 10:19 pm
What on earth are you guys smoking? I got $0 worth of info out of this page. Why would any idiot give you any money?
September 6th, 2007 at 9:21 am
Yanik…
I very much enjoyed your video as I enjoy learning from you each time I hear you speak. I appreciate your creativity, achievements, and what you share. I am soon launching my first e-book thanks in large part to inspiration gained from you, what you have done, and what you are doing.
Thank you.

Interesting but not filling.
September 6th, 2007 at 3:45 pm
I agree with Ken.
Although the presentation is nicely done – what is the big revelation? It looks like the classic marketing funnel to me.
For a product launch formula game plan this will work fine of course! Good luck with the launch.
September 7th, 2007 at 12:54 pm
Very insightful as aways, Yanik.
As for the folks who are thinking “there is nothing new here”… well, okay.
Are you DOING what Yanik is recommending? Most of the IMers I know are not.
If you think there’s no distinction to be made, try this: watch the video again, and compare what you’re seeing to your own business. See if you notice a difference. My guess is, you will.
But maybe I’m the only one.
September 8th, 2007 at 12:12 pm
Ray,
Like I said – a nice presentation: good content etc. Still, not exactly turning the funnel on its head as promised.
Ya know, under promise and over deliver, that old marketing fundamental.
September 8th, 2007 at 7:21 pm
G’day Yanik
I like the model and the presentation. As a couple of others have said above, it’s not earth-shattering, but I do like it as it is a neat model for the longer term plans that I have for my fledgling website business(es).
Nice one.
September 9th, 2007 at 2:14 pm
I, like some of the others, don’t see the big funnel on its head deal. I enjoyed the pictures. Made me want the same lifestyle. Could relate to the saturation of many markets. Don’t see where the force field comes in to protect me from competition. Maybe I need to watch again to grasp that. Of course, I can’t argue with your success. As a famous politician in my town said when accepting a bribe, “Money talks, BS walks.”
Look forward to future videos. Hope to have an aha moment or two.
September 10th, 2007 at 3:00 pm
The greatest ideas that are most profitable don’t have to be earth shattering… you just have to decide to take action and keep things simple.
I can’t believe everyone who is commenting about “Nothing New” etc…
Great to see Yanik.

Hi Yanik,
I enjoyed the Oil Well video very much and find the information most helpful. The ideas are great and really send a simple theme to the viewer. The process does not have to be as complicated as sokme “gurus” make it pout to be – maybe they are doing that to confuse us ?
I also watched the video at the Internet Lifestyle site and did want to see the second part of the video but when I went to enter my name and email it told me I could not watch the rest of the video cause I was already signed up ( oh well, I guess I signed up too soon ) maybe you can tell me another way to see the conclusion and points 3, 4, & 5 .
Great stuff. Very enjoyable and thought provoking. It is easy to see why you are where you are .. you think the right way when it comes to making and marketing your products.
Best regards,
Harry Crowder

Hi Yanik;
But you have to expand the ‘Bubble’ Yanik. Interesting interpretation on ‘Big’-frame models with flick-the-switch
type ignition points pinned in, enabling compounding
expansion paths to move out in all directions.
Some of the following references are thus useful defines
your ‘Oil Frame Model’ also.
1- Blue Print to a Billion by David Thomson
2 – Blue Ocean Strategy: How to Create Uncontested Market Space and Make Competition Irrelevant by W. Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne
It’s good to see these ‘big’-frame models filtering though
to internet marketeers.
Great info Yanik.

In a sea of scammers I am seeing that you appear to be one of the decent people. This education is important to me and I hope I will gain a working insight VERY soon. If it is appropriate to your celebration I wish you Yanik and yours a happy and healthy New Year
September 11th, 2007 at 11:00 am
Hey Yanik…. I look forward to what you have to offer. I hear nothing but great things about you… maybe an analogy more “carbon-neutral” than oil wells next time?
September 11th, 2007 at 10:02 pm
Hi Yanik,
Michael Masterson, Rich Schefren, Yanik Silver…
What do they have in common?
In my opinion, they KNOW what they are talking about… “been there and done that” and their success is visible proof of their invisible thought processes.
Any and every insight you have about internet marketing that you think is worth your time and effort to convey is worth my time to listen to and to read.
Thanks, looking forward to more from you… and Rich from Strategic Profits and Mike from EarlyToRise.com

Thank you for the videos, I am from a ‘conventional’ selling
environment and have been studying Internet marketing for
about six months, (its completely new to me!) and your generous approach with your information is much appreciated,
I look forward to learning more, and thanks again.

I enjoyed your video and never before seen such a presentation on the internet. I was intrigued with the oil field metaphor and thought of a differnt one to use in constructing my own info product model. I only saw still pictures with text accompanied by voice narration. What software was used to create this presentation called a web video?
