How To Sell at Prices Double or Triple Your Competitors (and still provide an incredible value)

If you boil down my biggest profit windfalls in my business (and the most astute marketers I observe) it has come down to selling premium products and services at premium prices. That’s how my business has leapfrogged from 6-figures to 7-figures and now multiple 7-figures a year!

I really love high priced products and you’ll see why in a moment…

Personally, I’ve sold everything from $5,000 workshops to $14,500.00 “Apprentice Programs” to $20,000 MasterMind groups and lots in-between. My most recent high-end product is a $40,000+/yr program for cosmetic surgeons.

Stick with me and I’ll share with you a few of the things I’ve learned in this hefty 24:08 video from my $10,000.00 per person “How to Sell High-Priced Information Products & Services” workshop! Here’s some of my newest insights about how to dominate the marketplace selling high priced products and services. Watch the video and let me know your thoughts.

Note: The recordings from this event and the $5,000/person “Info Marketing Players” workshop are locked-in to be released in one giant discounted set on September 25, 2007 at 12 pm, ET. (You might want to mark that date because there are going to be some incredible early-mover advantages!)

    Yanik,

Just signed up for part two. I really loved your first video.
I am now looking the second.

    I will blog about this.

Since I started online, I used some of your materials, and you really OVER deliver.

I look forward to learn more from you.

Yanik, brilliant work. Money is an illusion, just a barometer of the value flow in any direction. Funny how so much of it always seems to flow your way.

Video is to quiet I can barely hear it

  4. Arthur Tait Says:

    Hi Yanik.
As always, your presentations/information is very helpful. I have one (possibly dumb) question though:
What’s the reason for having us fill in our details again each time you send us one of these presentations (to get to part II, for example)? Is this a way to monitor our commitment to see the program through?

  5. Yanik Silver Says:

Sorry Jamie – was late last night and didn’t want to wake the kids or the wife :)

Arthur – actually the page is supposed to read your cookies and if you’ve already opted-in – you should get the page with both videos.

  6. Linda Says:

Very disappointing. Part 1 you tell the why and instruct listeners to go to part two.
fill in my email address again and it is just a repeat of part 1.

  7. Yanik Silver Says:

Linda – that’s odd. There is a 2nd part that’s completely different all about the psychological hot buttons for selling high priced products.

  8. Koorosh Vahabi Says:

These videos have been really educational so far.

    You Said:

‘My most recent high-end product is a $40,000+/yr program for cosmetic surgeons.”

Is that in the Internet Marketing arena…..?

I know these are state secrets, but I am just fascinated by the above statement.

    Hey Yanik,

Love the video. I definitely agree with #2 on the list of reasons to market high priced products. The more they pay, the more they’re going to put into it and get out of it.

#5 is one that kind of threw me off. It’s sometimes hard to find people who are ONLY looking to spend more rather than less! Profound concepts…

  10. Ampy Says:

Your idea about selling high ticket items makes sense.
Needless to say, one has to learn how to find the target market.

  11. Ron Roberts Says:

I haven’t spent a dime on my website other than the domain registration. It was just a little project I started with my daughter to teach her about her computer. One thing I love about the internet is that you’re not building a sand castle. You can lay a foundation and return a month or two later to start building on it. I’ve been fascinated to find things that I posted or sites I built years later in exactly the same condition as when I left them.

I was thinking maybe you could lay out a plan similar to a flow chart where a person could start with almost nothing and move forward with easily attainable goals. The choices a person makes at each milestone would then determine the direction their path would take. You could reward followers that reach certain milestones with access to tools and materials that would help them to reach the next milestone. For example if you gave a free e-book that contained a link back to your programs or if a person could place a link on their website that went back to your programs you could provide additional support to that person in exchange for the business they helped generate for you. I know it sounds like MLM and I suppose in a way it is but maybe a person could earn their way to attaining more advanced training one step at a time with income or credits that were generated along their path to success the Yanik way.

Hey Yanik… I’d have to say… AWESOME video’s man! I’ve picked up more valuable content from these videos then courses I’ve spent several hundred dollars on… and the best part is… your videos are FREE! (Thanks!)

By the way, as far as “high-priced” products go… I’m personally planning on attending your next underground seminar in LA in march… and I have NEVER purchased any of your low end products or any of them for that matter!

    See ya in LA Yanik!

P.S. Is there going to be a Sushi Bar? ;) Tha’d be awesome!

  13. Art Telles Says:

    Hi Yanik,

Great video… thanks for the low volume heads up… I just cranked up my speakers and your voice was STILL very clear.

What audio/video equipment are you using… and what video software / hardware are you using?

Is the audio/video software offered as an affiliate product?

Your video started immediately… compared to Camtasia which seems to take forever!!! to load.

  14. Trevor Mauch Says:

    Hey Yanik,

I think where Linda went wrong and said there was a “replay” is this. After the opt in it takes you to the page with both videos… including the “unlocked” Part 2 video at the bottom of the screen.

But… video Part 1 still begins playing automatically… while you have to scroll down to Part 2 and click the play button to get that going.

I can see how Linda got confused… but she should have just scrolled down 3 inches before she got a bit miffed.

P.S. – it’s been making me re-opt in everytime to get Part 2 also. Might check out your coding… but launch day is near so it might not make a huge difference anyhow.

    Trevor

    Hi, Janik:

This is just like listening to the Information Marketing Players Workshop DVD’s again. At least, I remember — a good sign!
I put my name on the list, as prompted, for the Internet Lifestyle Community to be informed of new happenings, but it is not my intent to sign up for a workshop which I already have.

Also I just flipped through your Dossier Issue XXVI and read again news you already shared in your InternetLifestyle.com blogs…..

  16. Kamarulzaman - "Your business cash management trainer" Says:

    Hi Yanik,

A very good video presentation with your voice is cristal clear. I have been giving free tutorial on cash management using my 10 years experience in this field. Am I doing the right thing?

I think you are correct Yanik, people seems to appreciate the knowledge if you charge them, provided that you have already being believed as an expert in your field. Should I stop my tutorial?

  17. Marie Says:

    Yanik:

Excellent strategies outlined here. I’m now sitting up on the couch and holding my head a bit higher.

    Thanks for the attitude adjustment!

  18. Sue Says:

    Hi Yanik,
Thank you so much for this information. Every point you make strikes a chord; you could have been describing me!
I am off to listen to part 2, taking copious notes so that I don’t forget anything.

  19. Jorge Says:

It is so true what I just saw in your video, it is all in our heads how is presented, but most of all finding the right pool of clients.

  20. James Says:

    Yanik,

Thank you for this video, I know you for over 3 years… I guess, one thing you forgot to mention in this video: for very high price tickets, there must be a high quality client service guarantee. You see, most marketers don’t understand this… I mean it. Best regards
    James

  21. Michelle Says:

    Yanik,

Thanks so much for the video!! It presents quintessentially important
information to anyone involved in marketing, regardless of type of
    product or service!
I have done well selling weekend racing/vacation packages on Ebay,
however, I have recently been mired in a sales plateau. I offer a superior
package, but after listening to your video, I now realize that I can add
additional value to my packages, present them in a slightly different manner, and sell them for a higher price resulting in much more profit for me but more importantly, provide a much higher value package to my purchasers! I have been trying to increase sales by trying to emphasize
price competitiveness. I now realize after your video that I have been
traveling down the wrong path! I realize that I need to add additional value to my packages with the result that I will dramatically increase my profits and provide very high value packages which will more than please
purchasers and provide long term benefits.
I would be honored if you choose me to receive your quintessential marketing package! It is now quite obvious to me that I need to learn the details of your pricing concept to achieve dramatic gains in my current
marketing efforts as well as to empower me to successfully resume my
info-product marketing which has been on temporary hold. With hard work and guidance received from your new high price/high value concept product (which I am confident at a minimum, will be the best product released this year) I am certain that I can implement the proper changes
in my info-product strategy to achieve great success. Thanks again for
    the quintessentially insightful videos.

    Michelle

    Yanik

The problem Linda has is that when you sign up for part II, part 1 starts playing automatically making you think it’s the same.

Linda scroll down the page to part II, stop part I and start part II

    Thanks for the interesting video

  23. Richard A. Posner Says:

    Yanik,
I love your very informative videos. The trouble is that when I see people like Anik Singal taking this approach, it becomes insulting. Everyone wants to climb the ladder following your succinct approach, but over time all these techniques make the buyer feel like he/she is being dissected like a frog.
It’s easy to get cynical, especially since ninety percent of such high-priced programs fade into the woodwork in a cyber second. I feel manipulated and violated into buying not because the product will deliver, but through fear that I might be left behind. The same reason applies to why people buy that “luck” lottery ticket.
Great marketing design can get fish to bite, but often their is poor ethics or outright deceit used to soften resistance. It is so easy to confuse selling real products or services vs. selling marketing concepts to other marketers. In the latter case, only great copywriters such as you will dominate again and again, with only a trickle-down effect (at best) for the less talented masses.
What’s more, most products and services marketed online are missing the one component that makes them duplicatable – a clone of you. I can remember how in the heyday of MLM, all the gurus such as Randy Gage spoke of the need to build a duplicatable business. That made sense, until I realized that there will never be another me. If I become fabulously wealthy, it is in my unique DNA.
Give two people the same product or a million dollars in cash, and one may zoom to the financial moon while the other will lose every red cent. Yes, success does leave clues, but more often than not it leaves envy and get-rich-quick schemes in its wake.
The long-term effect of scam artists learning their crafts from very talented people like you is that the international authorities will step in and heavily regulate the online world. We all need to see the big picture.

Listening to the videos–I made notes of some other things I could throw in for free–that would give and provide a very value-ADDED service– beyond giving at Christmas dining gift certificates based in amount purchared tiers! Is hard writing copy about a business that is suppose instill confidence and decorum like your banker or attorney–WITHOUT sounding like a huckster about the service or products I offer–all hand selected from the best lines. Can you address more examples of marketing services at the medium to high -end clientele–like if you were a designer trying to get snowbirdswho are buying condos-and need furnishings and help?AND you are trying to land an interview?

  25. Nathalie Foy Says:

    Life is great!

I was thinking about the fact that I should multiple my prices by at least 3 and all the sudden I feel like visiting Jim Edwards’blog and without a second thought I click on your link.

I’m the type who underestimates herself. I’ve bought a book about self-image after reading “The Instant Millionaire: A Tale of Wisdom and Wealth” from Marc Fisher. I almost bought Psycho-cybernetics at the time.

I’ve been feeling extremely frustrated lately to always do such a great job, be so good at what I do and still get very little income. I know this is all tied up to self-image. Thank you for reminding me about that PsychoCybernetics book.

God or life has been very generous to me and gave me a mentor who is willing to teach me how to sell my services at very high prices but your videos are warm and comforting. I’m always afraid to rip people off so much so that I rip myself off.

    Thank you,

    Nathalie

Rivetted to my seat, I watched all four videos on dial-up in one evening. I took fifteen pages of notes to reinforce all the marketing strategies and to refer to at a later date starting tomorrow. Step-by-step, you brought a mystery to light and spelled out committing to a process and a system that is no longer foreign to me. I feel like I’ve acquired more skills and you were in my ear answering my unasked questions. Thank you for illuminating a path through the internet. You got me to thinking and planning.
