9 ‘Inner Secrets’ of Personal Success

I thought I’d add a series of posts about what I consider to be some of the most important aspects of my success online…

Many of you know my story…

In only a few short months I’ve achieved the ultimate Internet “fantasy” of making a lot of money from a simple (almost primitive) web site that runs itself virtually on complete autopilot. Starting from scratch I banked over $51,351.94 my first 6 ½ months online, just working part-time out of the corner of my living room.

Now today at age 33, I’ve gone on to earn over 7-figures each year.

How did I go from a standing start to banking mega profits?

To do that, what I think you really need are these inner secrets to mega internet success.  This has nothing to do with search engines, pay-per-clicks.  It doesn’t have anything to do with any of the tactical stuff.  It’s all a lot of stuff that goes on in your head.  So let’s start…

Secret #1: Cheerful Expectancy

One of my biggest mentors is Earl Nightingale. He passed away several years ago but you need to get everything he recorded at Nightingale.com.  He has a program called “Lead The Field” and “The Strangest Secret”.  Just listen to that thing over and over again.  He talks about cheerful expectancy.

There’s a big difference between having expectancy versus hoping or wishing something is going to occur.  When you have that cheerful expectancy, you know it’s going to occur.  And that doesn’t just come from being “Pollyannaish” or having rose-colored glasses.  It comes from having knowledge.  And you get that knowledge from studying in your field whatever it is. It could be Internet marketing or it could be neurology. That means reading, studying and buying everything and absolutely immersing yourself in it.

I learned from Earl Nightingale that if you want to be an expert, you spend an hour a day reading on whatever subject that you’re interested in, that you want to be an expert on.

So I said, “Well, what would happen if I read for three hours a day?”

I just started learning as much as I possibly could, and that knowledge gives you the confidence to know that you have that positive expectancy.

My friend Jim Edwards has a great illustration of the difference between simply ‘hoping’ and ‘expecting’. You can try this exercise yourself. Close your eyes and try to HOPE you’ll make a million dollars this year (or whatever number might get you excited). Just sit there and hope and hope and hope.

Now if you pay attention you’ll notice you’ll probably a little bit slumped over and if had to stake your life on it – there’s no way you’d bet you really would make that mil this year. Now try the same exercise but this time EXPECT to earn a million dollars. I mean really expect it.

Now look at the way you are sitting, breathing and feeling. I’d wager it’s a little different. Your expectations determine your results.

Next post…secret #2 (Setting your plan)

And I’ll announce the winners of the very coveted Internet Lifesytle caps :)

    Dear Yanik,

I am loving this new series already! I’ve been scheduling several hours a day to study topics related to blogging, internet marketing and self-publishing, and your comments helped me feel like I’m on the right track. I checked out your site yesterday and decided which of your products to buy that will help me continue my learning process.

I think your idea of cheerful expectancy holds true in all kinds of endeavors. Many years ago, when I was confronting the intimidating prospect of attempting to be one of the first female firefighters in the nation, several 20-year vets told me “The biggest battle is the one you fight in your head.” Considering that I had to prepare to pass a physical strength and agility test that a third of the men failed, I thought it was fascinating that these experienced firefighters told me to first examine my mind and heart and get clear that I was ready to COMMIT. Cheerful expectancy got me past the admission tests, past the skepticism of co-workers, and through promtional exams leading to Engineer and Fire Captain posts. Now I want to take those lessons and apply them to a new frontier, that of interent publishing. Your BLOG comes at a perfect time!

I look forward to the next installment!

    Hey Yanik,

I agree with you 200%. My life completely turned around last October when I watched a seminar with Frank Kern, Ed Dale, and John Reese. The seminar opened my eyes to a completely new way of life. I owe a great deal to them and will be forever grateful.

I knew after watching that seminar that I had a lot to learn in order to become successful online. I started reading as much as possible about making money online, running a business, seo and traffic generation, as well as copy writing, marketing, and the rest. It was also then that I started reading self help books as well.

I didn’t have a lot of time to put into reading due to working 10+ hours a day and having two children, but I put in what I could. Because I couldn’t put in a lot of time reading I found my learning to be a slow process. This changed in January when I purchased a mp3 player.

Now my learning has exploded in comparison. I have between 2-3 hours a day that I can use to listen to my mp3 player. I have filled the player multiple times with great audio books, podcasts, and teleseminars.

I really enjoy the works of Napoleon Hill and listen to two main audio programs that has really helped me change my mind set. These are the audio version of his book “Think and Grow Rich” as well as “Your right to be Rich”. Both of these are excellent. I enjoy the teachings of “As a man Thinketh” as well, but the audio program wasn’t very enjoyable. I’m going to have to buy the book. :)

I’ve heard of Earl Nightingale many times in the past, but I haven’t listened to any of his work. I’ll definitely have to get some of his work. Thanks for the recommendation.

    Have a great day,
    Shannon

Thanks much for sharing your knowledge. After seven years of being involved in Internet Marketing I’ve yet to make the 6-figure mark but I have never given up. Knowledge is power and I’m taking your advice and tripling my daily brain intake. I know I’m at the point of breaking free and I fully expect to earn $100,000 or more this year. I appreciate the inspiration and look forward to a fun ride!

    Peace,

I just finished listening to “Lead The Field”. Remarkable content I can listen to Earl all day. I’m waiting for a CD” copy of “The Strangest Secret” so I can add it to my library. Thank you for sharing!!! I’m learning so much…

  7. Nickolove Lovemore Says:

I love the idea of this series and like others here I too enjoy listening to Earl Nightingale and reading his works. I received a copy of The Strangest Secret from Mark Victor Hansen, someone who was once bankrupt, down but certainly not out. Just look at him soar now!

On the subject of cheerful expectancy I’d like to share this quote:

“Infinite money is available to a mind that is ready, willing, able, qualified and gives itself permission to accept it.”

Sometimes, all the pieces are in place for a life of great success except for one. For whatever reason, we don’t give ourselves permission to accept what we desire and we block the feeling of cheerful expectancy.

Once we are able to remove those blocks, negative/limiting beliefs we can truly look forward to manifesting our goals.

    To Your Success!

    Nickolove

Great blog, Yanik! I’ve been reading, listening, and studying Internet marketing for about a year and a half now, and in June I began to feel just a little “cheerful expectation” of the income to come. This month, that feeling grew much stronger, and I truly believe now that I will break through that personal barrier very soon.

For those who would like more study material, there’s lots of great free stuff available at 117selfimprovementgifts.com, as well as the opportunity to offer your own free gifts to help you build your list and to earn great commissions as a JV partner.
